April 2026 - LVC Connections Newsletter

Lady Veterans Connect: April 2026 Highlights & Impact

The latest edition of LVC Connections showcases the continued momentum of Lady Veterans Connect in empowering women veterans, strengthening community ties, and expanding meaningful programming.

Honoring the Past, Building the Future

As the nation approaches the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, LVC highlights the longstanding contributions of women in military service and reinforces its mission to ensure women veterans are recognized, supported, and celebrated.

The organization also looks ahead to Women Veterans Recognition Day (May 30)—a key upcoming celebration honoring these contributions.

Veteran Voices & Real Impact

One of the most compelling stories this month features Air Force veteran Jason Nentwick, whose song “Heroes Don’t Come Home the Same” sheds light on the realities of reintegration, PTSD, and veteran mental health.

Beyond music, his work focuses on long-term solutions to veteran homelessness, proposing innovative pathways to homeownership instead of short-term rental support—an approach aimed at reducing suicide risk and improving stability.

Volunteer Spotlight: Service Beyond the Uniform

LVC shines a spotlight on Army veteran Pat Bettin, whose dedication continues long after her service. From knitting donations for homeless outreach to supporting animal shelters, her story reflects the ongoing service mindset of women veterans and the power of community involvement.

Women’s History Month: Breaking Barriers

The newsletter highlights trailblazing women in military history, emphasizing that:

  • Women are the fastest-growing veteran population

  • Over 2 million women veterans live in the U.S. today

  • That number is projected to reach 18% of all veterans by 2040

Profiles of leaders like ADM Lisa Franchetti and LTG Nadja West reinforce a clear message: Leadership is defined by capability—not gender.

Events That Build Connection & Community

LVC continues to create impactful spaces for veterans through events and partnerships, including:

  • Poetry & Art Workshop (April 18) – therapeutic creative expression

  • Veterans Stand Down & Resource Fairs – access to critical services

  • Central KY Day of Valor (June 26) – community celebration with resources and support

  • A Nation Remembers Tribute Weekend (September) – a large-scale event honoring service through ceremonies, exhibits, and community gatherings

These events reflect LVC’s commitment to connection, healing, and resource accessibility.

Continuing the Mission

LVC emphasizes the importance of community support and engagement, encouraging:

  • Donations

  • Volunteer involvement

  • Participation in programs and events

Every initiative ties back to a central goal: ensuring women veterans are seen, supported, and empowered.

Key Takeaway

This month’s newsletter reinforces that Lady Veterans Connect is not just an organization—it’s a growing movement centered on recognition, resilience, and real impact for women veterans and their families.
